Quick answer

A full-length YouTube music video is a 16:9 video that runs the whole song, so it needs a visual arc that follows the song's structure, the same character from the first shot to the last, and a budget that holds for three minutes or more. On HeyBop.ai, an AI music video generator for everyone, a 3-minute video without uploaded photos or singing uses 2,015–2,870 credits on Standard, and a vertical cut of the same video for Shorts is 20 credits more. Review the quote before generating.

This guide covers the long version made with HeyBop's AI music video generator: planning the arc, holding a character for three minutes, where to spend on quality, what reprises save, captions and export — and one thing to sort out with your distributor before you upload.

Plan an arc that follows the song

A 15-second clip can be one idea. Three minutes can't: one image for a whole song reads as a screensaver. Let the song's structure set the arc:

  • Intro: establish the world and the character, with slow moves such as a push in or a tilt.
  • Verses: smaller moments and longer shots.
  • Choruses: the biggest images and the fastest cutting.
  • Bridge: change one thing — the location, the time of day or the palette.
  • Final chorus and outro: pay off the opening, or echo its first shot.

HeyBop's AI director plans against the song's sections — choruses get bigger, faster shots, quiet parts get room — and every scene has its own prompt and camera move, so you can steer any part of the arc by rewriting that scene. The prompting guide pairs camera moves with sections.

For a full-length video, start with the script. Script generation is free (⁨0⁩ credits). Read every scene’s description and edit its characters and camera direction before generating images or clips. Images and videos use credits, with separate quotes before generation. A full song takes longer to make than a short, since every scene is generated separately; HeyBop emails you when it’s ready.

Keep the same character for three minutes

A 3-minute song cut into 6-second slots has 30 of them, and each shot is generated separately, so drift is the main risk: a face that changes by the second chorus breaks the video. HeyBop handles it in layers. A continuity bible — character, wardrobe, palette, lens, light and world — is written once and applied to every shot. With a character, a character sheet and a still for each scene are painted first, and the clips animate from those stills.

To put a real person, pet or mascot in the video, add a cast: up to three characters, each from up to three photos (a character sheet counts as one). Photos of a person use reference-to-video so the face stays the same. Keep the wardrobe constant unless the song gives a reason to change it, and show the character clearly early on before getting stylised.

For a performance feel, Sing along adds shots in which a character sings the song to camera, lip-synced to the vocals. They sit naturally in the choruses, with the story carried by the verses.

Standard first, Professional for selected shots

Choose Standard for a balance of quality and price, or Professional for richer motion and detail. Professional supports sing-along and screened uploads without realistic human faces. Use Standard for portraits of anyone, including selfies, or unverified images.

For a full-length video, make the whole thing on Standard and watch it through. For a project without uploaded photos or sing-along, you can choose Professional for selected shots and regenerate just those. Each Professional clip costs 250 credits for 6 seconds or 420 for 10; the rest of the video, cut and sync stay as they are.

What a 3-minute video costs

A 3-minute video on HeyBop: 0-credit storyboard + clips + 20-credit render, without uploaded photos or singing
TierPer clip (6 s / 10 s)3-minute video
Standard95 / 160 credits2,015–2,870 credits
Professional250 / 420 credits7,580–7,580 credits

Professional supports sing-along and screened uploads without realistic human faces. Use Standard for portraits of anyone, including selfies, or unverified images. The lower estimate reuses chorus shots; the upper estimate creates every shot fresh. Photos, singing, replacements and extra exports can add credits. Review the quote before generating.

Captions, export and a vertical cut for Shorts

Lyric captions are optional. Export MP4 in your selected format. One-time short video (USD 4.99): ⁨15⁩s standard video with a watermark. Personal use. First video only; no auto-renewal. Release-ready video (USD 9.99): Turn your song into a ⁨30⁩-second music video in Standard quality. Ready to share, watermark-free, with commercial rights for this project. ⁨600⁩ credits included. No subscription or auto-renewal. Add credits to extend the same video and keep its export rights. Membership: Watermark-free commercial exports. Credits arrive on each paid renewal. Extra generation credits: Credits never expire. Top-ups pay for generation; they do not unlock watermark-free or commercial exports. You need the rights to the music and photos you use.

From the same video, add a 9:16 cut (1080×1920) for Shorts for 20 credits. You can also export a 15-second hook teaser free from those already generated scenes; generation of the source video is paid. The guide to TikTok, Reels and Shorts covers what to do with them.

Before you upload: Content ID and your distributor

If your distributor has enrolled the song in YouTube's Content ID, YouTube can match the audio in your own upload and claim it. Content ID lets rights holders block, monetise or track videos that match their reference files (YouTube Help).

The usual fix is to ask your distributor to allowlist (often called whitelisting) your channel before you upload. According to YouTube, allowlisted channels are exempt from future Content ID claims, but claims made before a channel was added aren't released automatically (YouTube Help). How to request it varies by distributor, so check their help pages or ask support. If a claim appears anyway and you hold the rights, you can dispute it in YouTube Studio (YouTube Help).

Preguntas frecuentes

How much does a full-length AI music video for YouTube cost?+

Script generation is free (⁨0⁩ credits). For a 3-minute song with 6-second clips and no reference photos or singing, Standard uses 2,015–2,870 credits; approximately $34.93–$44.99 in generation top-ups from a zero balance; Professional uses 7,580–7,580 credits; approximately $115.95–$115.95 in generation top-ups from a zero balance. The lower estimate reuses chorus shots; the upper estimate creates every shot fresh. Photos, singing, replacements and extra exports can add credits. These are generation-only top-up budgets. For the same Standard example, a new Free account’s one-time licensed purchase is approximately $34.94–$46.96 before tax, including the project’s watermark-free commercial export rights and required generation packs. Neither range is a fixed-price finished-video promise. Review your own quote before generating.

How do I keep the same character through a whole AI music video?+

Give the generator the character in every shot. HeyBop applies a continuity bible (character, wardrobe, palette, lens, light, world) to every shot, paints a character sheet and a still per scene, and uses reference-to-video for people from your photos: up to three characters, up to three photos each.

Will YouTube Content ID claim my own music video?+

It can, if your distributor has enrolled the song in Content ID. Ask the distributor to allowlist your channel before you upload; YouTube Help says allowlisted channels are exempt from future Content ID claims, but earlier claims are not released automatically.

Can I make a YouTube Shorts version from the same video?+

Yes. On HeyBop, extra formats of the same video cost 20 credits each, so a 9:16 cut at 1080×1920 can sit alongside the 16:9 upload, and you can export a 15-second hook teaser free from existing generated scenes. This does not include free scene generation.
