What Suno Hooks actually does
Hooks launched in 2025 as a free feature for every Suno plan (release notes). You pick a Suno song, choose a start point, upload or select a short clip, add lyric captions, and publish a vertical short inside Suno or export it. It costs no credits. In Suno's own words the design puts "music at the center, and the visuals support the story" (Suno hub).
| Suno Hooks | Generated music video (e.g. HeyBop) | |
|---|---|---|
| Visuals come from | Clips you upload | Generated per scene from the song's beat map and your concept |
| Length | Short-form (seconds) | Any: 12-second hook, 30 seconds, 1 minute, full song |
| Beat sync | You choose the start point | Cuts land on detected downbeats automatically |
| Same person across shots | Only if your footage has them | Reference photos support likeness; review scenes for consistency |
| Cost | Free; you supply footage | Script generation is free (0 credits). The one-time short video is $4.99 for 15 seconds with a watermark and personal use, first video only. The release-ready purchase is $9.99 for 30 seconds in Standard quality with watermark-free commercial export for that project. Neither is a full-song price or an auto-renewing subscription. Longer versions and extra attempts can need more credits. |
| Best for | Teasers from phone footage | Release-day videos, lyric videos, visualisers |
What Suno's terms allow you to do with the song
This matters more than the video tool. Check the licence for your specific song before monetising it. Suno's current paid-subscription help says songs downloaded while subscribed receive commercial-use rights. Its retroactive-rights help says subscribing does not grant rights to earlier free-plan songs by default. Review the Terms of Service and your song's entitlement. Buying a HeyBop video does not grant music rights or guarantee copyright protection.
Three ways to get a music video for a Suno track
- Suno Hooks — free; best when you already have footage and want a 15-second teaser.
- Suno-link converters such as Freebeat — paste the link, get a templated visualiser; fast, limited control.
- HeyBop — paste the Suno link (or upload the MP3), pick a look, optionally add a photo of yourself, and get a storyboarded, beat-cut video with per-scene editing, a hook teaser and all aspect ratios (how it works). Standard quality is 60 credits per 6-second clip; generation starts after payment.
Why beat-matching is the whole game
A visualiser that drifts 100 ms off the downbeat reads as amateur even to listeners who cannot say why. HeyBop runs onset detection on the uploaded track and plans every scene boundary on the beat grid before any frame is generated, then trims each clip to that grid at render time. Hooks lets you set a start point by hand; that is fine for one cut and impractical for thirty.
שאלות נפוצות
Can Suno generate a music video from a prompt?+
No. Suno states Hooks "isn't meant to create scenes from prompts"; it pairs your song with clips you provide.
Is Suno Hooks free?+
Yes, Hooks costs no credits on any plan. Commercial use of the underlying song still depends on your plan.
Can I use a free-tier Suno song in a monetised video?+
Suno's terms limit free-tier outputs to personal, non-commercial use, and upgrading later does not change that for existing songs. Check the licence for the specific song with Suno before monetising it.
How can I turn a Suno song into a full music video?+
Download the MP3 from Suno, upload it to HeyBop, pick a look and press “Make my video”. AI handles the shots and beat-synced edit. Review your credit quote and pay before generation; the cost depends on length and quality.
Does HeyBop keep my Suno song's rights intact?+
HeyBop does not claim rights in your uploads or the generated video; you retain the music licence granted by Suno. Your HeyBop export rights depend on the purchase; a paid generation top-up alone does not unlock commercial video use.
