Quick answer

Sondo (sondo.ai) turns a song into an AI music video. New users get 10 free credits (enough for a script, not a video). Plans are Pro Weekly $9.99/week (800 credits), Super Weekly $29.99/week (4,000) and Pro Yearly $59.99/year (8,000); video costs about 10 credits a second in SD and 20 in HD, so a 3-minute video is ≈ 1,834–1,953 credits, roughly $14–24 depending on the plan. Failed generations are refunded (tasks you cancel are not), and the watermark comes off with a subscription or a $14.99 one-off purchase (all checked 29 September 2026). On Trustpilot it holds a 1.4 / 5 TrustScore from 75 reviews (85 % one-star) as of 25 September 2026, with complaints clustered around output that ignores instructions, paying again to fix results, and difficulty getting money back or cancelling. What Sondo is

Sondo is a mobile-first app (App Store, Google Play) launched in April 2025. You upload or generate a track, describe the visuals, and the app returns a beat-matched video. Its store listings claim more than 10 million users and 15 million generated videos, which makes it the most widely used product in the category and the natural benchmark for everything else.

How Sondo's credit pricing works

Sondo sells credits through weekly or yearly subscriptions rather than selling videos (sondo.ai/subscribe). Video costs about 10 credits a second in SD and 20 in HD, so a 3-minute video comes to roughly 1,834–1,953 credits. Earlier third-party reviews quoted other pack sizes and a flat ~1,500 credits per video (YouTube: "They advertise 10 credits but it costs 1,500"); the figures below are Sondo's own, checked on 29 September 2026.

Sondo plans and what a 3-minute video costs on each (sondo.ai, checked 29 Sep 2026)
PlanPriceCreditsPrice per credit3-minute video (≈ 1,834–1,953 credits)
Pro Weekly$9.99 / week800≈ $0.0125≈ $23–24; one week's credits don't cover it
Super Weekly$29.99 / week4,000≈ $0.0075≈ $14–15
Pro Yearly$59.99 / year8,000≈ $0.0075≈ $14–15; the year's credits cover about four

The headline prices are reasonable; the friction is elsewhere. The entry plan's 800 weekly credits can't finish one 3-minute video, the plans renew weekly or yearly rather than monthly, and reviewers say fixing a result meant paying for another generation. Watermark removal needs a subscription or a $14.99 one-off purchase.

What users complain about

Across Trustpilot (1.4 / 5, 75 reviews) and the app stores, the same four themes repeat:

  • Output ignores the brief. Characters change between shots, a male voice sings a female part, prompts are only loosely followed.
  • Paying to fix the tool's mistakes. One reviewer summarises it as "pay to generate, discover the defects, pay again to repair them"; another notes that "each tweak costs another 1,500 credits".
  • Refunds. Reviewers report being told by Apple they were not eligible for a refund of their purchase and getting no reply from support; no company responses appear on the Trustpilot page as of this writing. (Sondo's own policy refunds credits for failed generations, but not for tasks you cancel.)
  • Cancellation. Several reviews describe continued billing after cancelling, in one case months after deleting the account.

Nothing is ever right the first time — each tweak costs another 1,500 credits.

— anonymous reviewer, Trustpilot, retrieved 25 Sep 2026

To be fair to Sondo: a 1.4 score on 75 reviews is a small, self-selected sample against millions of installs, and app-store refunds are administered by Apple and Google, not by the developer. But the complaints are consistent with the pricing design — when a video is a single opaque purchase, every defect becomes a billing dispute.

What to check before you buy credits on any AI music-video app

  1. Is the cost of a whole video shown before generation, in currency, not just credits?
  2. Can you regenerate one scene rather than the whole video?
  3. Are failed or moderated generations refunded automatically?
  4. Do you keep the same character across shots (a reference photo, not luck)?
  5. Can you cancel from inside the product, and does the terms page say what happens to unused credits?

How HeyBop answers the same complaints

HeyBop was built after reading these reviews, so the trade-offs are deliberate: every button shows its price in credits before you click; a full 3-minute video is with its credit quote shown before generating, with costs based on length and quality (≈ 870–1,230 and 1,290–1,830 credits; the low end is with the usual chorus reprises, how credits work); any scene can be rewritten and regenerated alone for the price of one clip; failed or moderated generations are refunded to your balance automatically; generation starts after payment; and a photo of you keeps the same person in every shot. Payments run through Stripe, cancellation is one click in the billing page, and unused pack credits never expire (pricing).

Questions fréquentes

How much does one video cost on Sondo?+

A 3-minute video uses about 1,834–1,953 credits (≈ 10 credits a second in SD, 20 in HD). At Sondo's plan prices that is roughly $14–15 on Super Weekly or Pro Yearly and $23–24 on Pro Weekly, before any regeneration. New users get 10 free credits, enough for a script but not a video.

Does Sondo refund failed or bad videos?+

Sondo refunds the credits for failed generations, but not for tasks you cancel yourself, and not for results you simply don't like. Money refunds for purchases made in the iOS or Android app are decided by Apple or Google; Trustpilot and App Store reviewers report such requests being declined or unanswered.

How do I remove Sondo's watermark?+

With any Sondo subscription, or a $14.99 one-off purchase.

Is Sondo's video quality bad?+

Reviews most often criticise instruction-following and character consistency rather than raw image quality. Results vary by song and prompt; the complaint is that fixing a bad result costs a full new video.

What is an alternative to Sondo with the same one-click flow?+

HeyBop.ai turns your song into a beat-synced video and lets you replace individual scenes. Script generation is free (⁨0⁩ credits). The one-time short video is $4.99 for 15 seconds with a watermark and personal use, first video only. The release-ready purchase is $9.99 for 30 seconds in Standard quality with watermark-free commercial export for that project. Neither is a full-song price or an auto-renewing subscription. Longer versions and extra attempts can need more credits. For a full song, 2,015–2,870 credits; approximately $34.93–$44.99 in generation top-ups from a zero balance. Confirm the actual quote and export rights before generating. Compare HeyBop and Sondo.

Can I use my Sondo song in HeyBop?+

Yes. Upload any MP3/WAV you have the rights to; HeyBop analyses the beat and builds the video from it.
